The basics

Hi there! I’m Ana and I’m a 29 year old, Mexicana, Air Force Wife. I’m located in San Antonio, Texas at the moment but that won’t last too long. My husband is in the military so we move around every 3 years or so. I was originally born in Mexico but grew up in Los Angeles, California. I enjoy blogging and photography. So you will see me doing that a lot at my website, Bonita in Pink.

The History

My love for food and cooking started after I got married in 1998. I had to learn how to cook for myself and my husband. As a little girl, I was never one to be in the kitchen with my Mother so needless to say, when I cooked my first pot of rice, it burn to a crisp! Through the years, I had to call my mother more than a few times to ask her how to make certain Mexican food dishes. However, after burning my Mexican rice about 100 times, the day finally came where my rice was not burnt and actually came out delicious. Not too much salt, not too overcooked, and definitely not burnt anymore. With practice I ended up adding my own touch to the recipes my Mom handed down to me. I can now say with pride that I am a good cook. It took me a while, but it was worth the time it took. I hope you enjoy the recipes I share here and I hope that it inspires you to add a touch of your own.
