I’ve read that ancient man actually consumed a greater variety of plants and animals than we do today, but something tells me I’ve got them beat. Below is a list of all the food I had in one day, complemented by photos of course. Boy oh boy were those poor Paleolithic bastards missing out.
I started out easy in the morning with a bowl of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal. I think breakfast is the one meal that you can be more calorie-liberal with, but what the hey- I prefer to end the day with a bang(er).
For lunch I had Indian food. I had chicken tikka masala, mixed vegetable curry, and buttered naan. Mmm… the naan was perfect: soft and warm in the middle, toasted and brittle on the outside.
Dinner was had at my favorite restaurant, a garlic themed restaurant called The Stinking Rose (get it?) located in North Beach in SF.
Everytime I go to this restaurant, I always order the sizzling shrimp skillet for an appetizer. It’s divine. I don’t even like shrimp that much. In fact, if I may digress a bit, I recently suffered from food trauma after watching a friend stab about twenty cold bay shrimp onto a fork, steep the mangled fleshy mess into cocktail sauce, and then shovel everything into his mouth. Reminded me of that part in the Odyssey when the six headed monster Scylla devours six men. Anyway, point is, despite being put off shrimp for months, I ordered the shrimp skillet with no hesitation. And I was certainly rewarded for my selection. It was so succulent and tasty that I literally closed my eyes while I chewed.
I also ordered the garlic roasted prime rib. It came with mashed potatoes and swiss chard. Yummy!
Though I didn’t have the garlic flavored ice cream, don’t think I forgot about dessert! Upon returning home, I had three scoops of ben and jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie ice cream.
And there you have it. Day in the life of a fatty.
But really, how lucky am I to be so decadent! In one day, I had myriad foods: soy milk, cereal, chicken, creamy tomato sauce, cauliflower, peas, green beans, yellow curry, naan, shrimp, prime rib, swiss chard, mashed potatoes, fudge, brownies, and chocolate ice cream. Holy guacamole!
(It’s okay, I exercise.)
